Inspired by Generation T
This week the weather took a turn in the grumpy direction. I could have parting sorrows with the sunny weather that is shown in the photos from this post, but I have decided to embrace the clouds instead. It means I can do three things: make creamy corn chowder, stay inside and read as if my life depended on me finishing all five books in the series as fast as possible.
"Don’t know why there's no sun up in the sky, stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together"
Anyways. On to the project! Have you ever checked out the website called generation t? I picked up a copy of the book with the same name in a craft store during high school and cut up as many shirts as I could get my hands on.
I discovered a new shirt resurrection that I like to call the 'dinosaur' because it reminds me of the spikes on a triceratops. Its super easy - only six steps and two shirts!
1. Cut one shirt into three strips. It should be the larger, alternate colored shirt. Try to make the strips as long as possible by cutting around the radius of the shirt instead of down the length.
2. Cut the other shirt straight up the middle of the back... But stop before you cut through the neck, leaving about an inch.
3. Cut slips along both sides about an inch and a half apart.
4. Quickly sew the three long strips to the inside of the neck.
5. Make sure the stitching is secure and pull the rest of the strips up through the cut in the back.
6. Begin braiding the three strips, going through the slits in the back as you go. At the end, sew the strips back together with the back of the shirt hiding their ends.
