Inspired by Textile Republic
Today was the first day of a new semester. This means two things: new outfit and too many great classes to choose from. One class that I’m already excited for is my textile and interior design class. It mixes art history - which I love, with modern furniture and textile artists. I am already expecting a lot of inspiration coming your way!
One secret dream that I have is to design a textile. Whether it is a fabric or wallpaper, I love the art of creating a story through a continuous pattern. I don't think I’ve figured out the secret yet though, so I am content with 'oohing' over other designers.
Textile republic is a website that everyone needs to visit. It offers hopefuls like me a way to share textiles, possibly for merchandise. Anyone can submit their pattern and then once they are approved and get 100 likes on facebook they get shared royalties for the production of their design on a number of products. When I get the courage, textile republic is my first stop.
Beautifulfabric.com offers a wide range of fabric designs for inspiration. I don't have my sewing machine with me, so I found another use for these textiles as digital backgrounds to photos or blog headers I have designed over the years. Here are a few beautiful fabric choices as well as a header I designed a while ago.
