Inspired by the Zac Brown Band
A few weeks ago my husband and I saw one of our favorite bands in concert. We may not be from the south, but we pride ourselves on being part of the country-loving minority in our town. The show was so good! I mentioned in a previous post that I surprised my husband with these tickets for his birthday - now we are dreaming of Atlanta, Georgia as one of our future homes.
This week was a whirlwind of heavy work schedules, back-to-back tests and missing keys. When it finally slowed down, I realized that one of sac brown's songs has been playing over and over in my head... And I don't mind. The lyrics to quiet your mind mean so much to me. They mention that sometimes we forget to 'enjoy the ride' of life. I know that it can be hard to slow down in a world that keeps us so very busy, but I also know that I have a purpose and an end goal to reach. To me, this phrase stands as a reminder to focus on the bigger picture of life instead of the little mistakes or worries I might have. (You can ask my husband; I worry about little things a lot.)
If you get a chance, you should listen to the song. I promise it is worth it. Also, if you look at this photo while it is playing, you can imagine that you are sitting next to us at the concert!
You can always use the same technique with any saying as well as any type of paper or even fabric. The map is from the city that my husband and I met in and now live in, so it holds a special meaning.
1. Sketch out your design with a pen or pencil. It's okay if you smudge or mess up because the whole canvas will be covered up later on.
2. Start measuring and cutting the rope for the letters. Hot glue the ends so it doesn't fray.
3. Hot glue the outline of the letters on the canvas.
4. Then lay the rope in place.
5. Rip the map into uneven pieces and mix up some modge podge. Brush the glue onto the back of a piece and lay it where you want.
6. Use the brush to flatten and mold the paper in place.
Continue until all of the canvas is covered.
