Home Update: Office
Although we are not ready to purchase a house of our own, we have really enjoyed upgrading to a larger apartment. Two bedrooms is a luxury compared to our small home in Utah. We have been using our second bedroom as a library/office of sorts.
I have always dreamed of a workspace area in our home and love the way it is turning out so far. I could spend hours in this room designing and reading! Here are a few of my favorite things about this room.
I wanted the bookshelves to be more of a collage for our special souvenirs than a place to store books. Each item on the shelves has a special meaning/memory to us.I learned early on that turning a bookcase into a display case could look cluttered pretty fast. I used Jenny's method of bookshelf styling and loved the results. The key is to separate the books by color and organize the other elements from largest to smallest.
This space gets tons of natural light all day long. I love pulling the curtains back and turning off the overhead lamp to let the sun in.
When we arrived from Utah my desk was one of the broken fatalities from the travel. My awesome wood-working hubby made me a gorgeous wood sawhorse desk from Ana White's plan.
Although the rest of our little apartment is definitely less put together we love having a new space to try out!
