Making a Basket Woven Mirror Frame

Hi friends!

I was itching to make a basket woven shape after seeing these cool mirrors with scalloped frames. (One is $30, the other is $300. I asked my friends over on Instagram which one I should use for inspiration and they voted for the circle!

After a bit of sluething (I went to the store to see them in person), I realized that the shape is held with a well-disguised metal frame. I don’t have any welding skills, so I wasn’t sure if my project would turn out, but I decided to go for it anyway.

Guess what? It worked out PERFECTLY! I changed a few parts of the design, like the direction of the weaving, the materials, and how big the scallops were, but I am super pleased with how it turned out. I filmed the process to make this project and shared it on my YouTube incase you want to try it too!

The materials included:

10” floral hoop - $2.99

14” floral hoop - $3.99

18 gauge wire - $5.99

Raffia (I used 2 bags) - $2.97 each

10” mirror (came in a pack of 9)

Let me know what you think about this project - I had a lot of fun making it and am thinking up what shape to try next!
